What Is an Add-On Service?

An Add-On Service is an optional enhancement that can be offered alongside a custom herbal formula to improve convenience, usability, or therapeutic outcomes for the patient.

Common examples include:

  • Herbal decoction service

    • The formula is pre-boiled and delivered in ready-to-drink pouches

  • Herb Grinding

    • Raw herbs are processed by grinding them into a fine powder

Add-on services allow practitioners to offer value-added options without altering the core formula itself.

Add-On Service Categories

Add-On Service Categories help organize services and present them in logical groups within the Formula Builder.

To create or manage categories, navigate to:
Admin > Lists > Categories > Add-On Service Categories

Categories are optional but recommended for improved clarity and user experience.

Add-On Service Pricing

Add-on services may be:

  • Free

  • Charged as a fixed (flat) fee

  • Charged as a percentage of the formula ingredient cost

  • Charged using both methods

This flexibility allows pricing to align with operational costs and business preferences.

Adding an Add-On Service

Add-On Service Settings

  • Name

    • Enter the service name as shown to users

  • Category (Optional)

    • Assign the service to an existing category

    • If the category does not exist, you will be redirected to create one

  • Status

    • Set the service to ON or OFF

  • Fixed / Flat Fee

    • Enter a dollar amount (up to two decimal places)

  • Percentage of Formula Cost

    • Enter a percentage (up to two decimal places)

  • Description

    • Provide a description and any important details users should know

Add-On Service Display Formatting

Add-On Services include dedicated display formatting options.

To customize how Add-On Services appear in the Formula Builder, go to Formula Builder Settings and select General Settings.

These display controls allow you to ensure add-on services are presented clearly and consistently to users.
