Overview

The Formula Builder includes three integrated configuration areas for Capsules, Tablets, and Soft-gels. All three function identically, so they are documented together in this section.

For clarity, capsules are used as the primary example throughout this guide. The same configuration steps and behaviors apply to tablets and soft-gels.

The purpose of these integrations is to:

  • Force formulas into a specific size, volume or weight range

  • Apply packaging-specific constraints

  • Provide dosage instructions tailored to the selected form

If more than one form (capsules, tablets, or soft-gels) is enabled on the same Formula Builder, the user may select only one for a given formula.

Example:
If both capsules and tablets are enabled, the formula can be prepared as either capsules or tablets—but not both.

Capsule / Tablet / Soft-gel Status

To enable capsules, switch the Status toggle to ON.
(Repeat the same process for tablets or softgels if needed.)

Capsule Sizes

Capsule sizes define how much material each capsule can hold and the cost associated with that capsule.

Add a Capsule Size

  1. Click Add New

  2. Enter a Capsule Name

    • This can be a standard size (e.g., Size 0) or a custom identifier

  3. Enter the ingredient weight that fits into one capsule

  4. Enter the cost per capsule

    • This value is used to calculate the formula’s cost of goods

  5. Click Save

Capsule Options

Capsule Dosage Instructions

When capsules are selected, the Formula Builder displays dosage instruction settings specific to capsules.

These dosage instruction options function the same way as standard Dosage Mode Settings, giving you full control over:

  • Field visibility

  • Defaults

  • Required fields

  • Display names

Recommendation:
Limit the measurement field to Capsules only to ensure clarity and prevent dosing inconsistencies.

By configuring Capsules, Tablets, and Soft-gels correctly, you can enforce accurate packaging constraints, ensure proper dosage instructions, and maintain consistent pricing and calculations across all solid dosage forms.
