A container represents the physical packaging used to hold a finished formula, such as a bottle, jar, or bag.
This section allows you to define the containers available for a specific Formula Builder and control how the system selects and applies them to formulas.
Defining containers is essential for several key reasons:
Accurate Shipping Calculations
The container’s weight is included when calculating the total shipment weight
Correct Label Printing
You can assign a specific label to be used when a container applies to a formula
Profit and Margin Accuracy
The system includes the container’s cost when calculating formula profitability
To add a new container, enter the following details:
Container Name
A descriptive name for identification
Dimensions
Length, width, and height
Entering inches automatically calculates centimeters, and vice versa
Container Cost
The price you pay to purchase the container
Container Weight
The empty weight of the container
Range Type
Select Weight or Volume
Weight or Volume Range
Defines which formulas qualify for this container
Label Selection
Choose the label to be used when this container applies
Important:
If your Formula Builder includes multiple ingredient types that support both weight and volume, you must choose one measurement basis (weight or volume) for container selection.
In most cases, the container quantity is set to 1, meaning a single container is used per formula.
However, some formulas may exceed the capacity of a single container. In these cases:
You can create a container that requires multiple containers
Specify the number of containers needed
The system will automatically generate the same number of labels
This eliminates the need to manually print multiple labels and ensures accurate fulfillment.
Some ingredient types support multiple measurement units and you may also have many ingredient types enabled for the Formula builder with different measurement types.
Example:
Tincture formulas may be built using fluid ounces (fl oz) or milliliters (ml) or you may have both tinctures and granules using different measurement types.
When container selection is based on volume, the system must know which measurement type to use. The Default Weight / Volume setting defines the measurement unit used to determine container eligibility.
This ensures consistent and accurate container selection when multiple measurement types are available.
Proper container configuration ensures accurate shipping, labeling, and profitability calculations across all formulas.
