What Is a Tag?

A tag allows users to mark specific ingredients within a formula that require special attention.

Tagged ingredients can trigger additional preparation instructions, alerting the end user that the ingredient must be handled differently during decoction, preparation, formulation or dispensing.

Tags are optional. You may create custom tags for a Formula Builder or disable tagging entirely if it is not needed.

Important:
If you plan to use tags, ensure the Tag column is enabled (ON) for each dosage mode. If the column is disabled, users will not be able to tag ingredients.

Adding a Tag

Tag Settings

  • Tag Name

    • Enter a short, descriptive name

    • Shorter tag names are recommended for usability

  • Tag Status

    • Set the tag to ON or OFF

  • Requires Preparation Instructions

    • Yes:

      • Displays a preparation instructions input box when an ingredient with this tag is used

    • No:

      • No preparation instructions field is shown

      • Users can still apply the tag to ingredients

By using tags strategically, you can flag sensitive ingredients, enforce special handling instructions, and improve consistency and safety within your formulation workflows.
