Creating Formula Templates

Formula Templates are pre-built formulas that are made available to all practitioners in your dispensary. Practitioners can apply a template directly from the template dropdown above the formula ingredients section when building a formula, saving time and ensuring consistency.

What Are Formula Templates Used For?

  • Provide standardized formulas to all practitioners

  • Speed up formula creation

  • Ensure consistency in commonly used formulas

  • Reduce manual ingredient entry

Templates are read-only starting points. Practitioners can select a template and then adjust quantities or ingredients as needed.

Step 1: Create the Template

  1. Set Template Status

    • Published: Available to practitioners

    • Draft: Not visible to practitioners

  2. Enter Template Name

    • This is the name practitioners will see in the template dropdown.

    • Maximum of 40 characters.

  3. Choose Applicable Formula Builders

    • Select one or more formula builders (e.g., Granules, Tinctures).

    • The template will only appear in the selected builders.

  4. Add Ingredients

    • Use the ingredient dropdown to select ingredients.

    • Enter the quantity for each ingredient.

    • Click Add More Rows to include additional ingredients.

    • Use Delete to remove any ingredient row.

  5. Save the Template

    • Click Save & Preview Template to store the template and make it available based on its status.

Step 2 – Review, Confirm, and Save the Formula Template

After adding all ingredients and quantities in Step 1, you will be taken to the confirmation screen.

On this screen, you should:

  1. Review the Template Details

    • Confirm the Template Name.

    • Verify which Formula Builders the template applies to (e.g., Granules, Tinctures).

    • Only the selected builders will make this template available to practitioners.

  2. Review Ingredient List

    • Verify each ingredient included in the template.

    • Confirm the ingredient type and quantity for each item.

    • Review the total number of ingredients and the total quantity calculated at the bottom of the table.

  3. Confirm Accuracy

    • This step is a final validation to ensure the formula structure and ratios are correct.

    • Any mistakes should be corrected by returning to the previous step before saving.

  4. Confirm & Save

    • Click Confirm & Save to finalize the template.

    • Once saved, the formula template becomes available to all practitioners and can be selected from the template dropdown above the formula ingredients section in the formula builder.

After saving, the template is ready for use and provides practitioners with a standardized starting formula that can be used as-is or modified as needed.

Notes & Best Practices

  • Templates are global and visible to all practitioners.

  • Use clear, descriptive names for easy identification.

  • Review ingredient availability before publishing.

  • Templates can be edited later without affecting existing formulas created from them.

If you need to make practitioner-specific formulas, use My Formulas instead of templates.
