General Settings

Path:
Admin → Settings → Formula Settings → Edit a Formula Builder → General Settings

The General Settings section controls the high-level configuration and visual styling of a specific formula builder. These settings define how the formula builder looks, behaves, and maintains consistency across sections by applying shared styling rules.

While some individual sections of the formula builder allow custom styling, the General Settings act as the global defaults that apply everywhere unless overridden.

What General Settings Control

General Settings allow you to configure:

  • Formula builder display name and icon

  • Default font and decimal handling

  • Button appearance and layout

  • Formatting for capsules, tablets, and soft-gels

  • Title and data text styling across sections

  • Add-on services display and formatting

Each formula builder has its own General Settings, allowing different builders to follow different branding or workflow requirements.

Default Settings

Formula Builder Name

Defines the display name of the formula builder as seen by practitioners.
This name can be changed at any time without affecting existing formulas.

Icon

The icon is used as a placeholder image for the custom formula when it appears in the cart or order summary.

This is especially useful if you want visual consistency in the cart

Default Font

Select the primary font used throughout the formula builder.

  • This font applies globally unless a section has its own font setting

  • Ensures visual consistency across titles, data fields, and instructions

Default Decimal Place

When multiple ingredient types with different decimal settings are used in one formula, this setting determines the fallback decimal precision.

This prevents inconsistent rounding when ingredients with different rules appear together.

Button Display Options

The formula builder includes multiple action buttons (Add to Cart, Edit Formula etc...).
You can style these buttons to match your brand.

Styling Options Include:

  • Font size

  • Font color

  • Background color

  • Bold or underline text

  • Border thickness and color

  • Padding and margins

Button Preview

As you adjust button styling, a live preview is displayed so you can see changes immediately.

Best Practice:
After saving, create a new formula to confirm the final appearance in real-world use.

Capsule / Tablet / Soft-gel Formatting

If Capsule, Tablet, or Soft-gel options are enabled for the formula builder, this section controls how their text and data are displayed.

You can define:

  • Font styling

  • Alignment

  • Emphasis and spacing

These settings ensure dosage-specific formats remain clear and consistent.

Title and Data Styling Options

Many sections of the formula builder contain:

  • A Title (section heading)

  • Data (values, quantities, instructions)

This area controls the default styling for both when no section-specific overrides exist.

  • Left side controls Title styling

  • Right side controls Data styling

This ensures consistency across the formula builder while still allowing flexibility where needed.

Add-On Services Styling

If your formula builder includes Add-On Services (e.g., fees, custom services), this section controls how they appear.

You can style:

  • Add-On Service Name

  • Category Title

  • Description

  • Price

  • General layout and formatting

This helps maintain clarity and professionalism when presenting additional charges.

Best Practices

  • Use General Settings to define your core branding

  • Avoid over-customizing individual sections unless necessary

  • Always test changes by creating a new formula

  • Use separate formula builders if workflows or branding differ significantly

Summary

General Settings define the foundational appearance and behavior of a formula builder. They provide:

  • Consistent branding and layout

  • Centralized styling control

  • Flexible defaults with optional overrides

  • A clean, professional practitioner experience

Properly configuring these settings ensures your formula builders remain intuitive, consistent, and aligned with your dispensary’s brand.
