The Formula Settings area controls how the formula builder behaves when you create custom prescriptions. These settings define defaults, layout preferences, privacy rules, and how information appears while you are building formulas.
Because every dispensary can configure their formula builder differently, the options you see may vary. Some sections shown here may not appear in your account, and additional options may be available depending on how your dispensary has been set up.
These settings apply to how formulas are created, not to a single formula.
This section controls how formula names are generated by default:
Blank – Leaves the formula name empty.
Current Date – Automatically inserts today’s date.
Custom – Uses a predefined naming format.
This helps standardize naming across your practice.
Choose how new formulas are saved by default:
Private – Only visible to you.
Shared – Available to other practitioners (if permitted by your dispensary).
Privacy rules are governed by your clinic’s policies and permissions.
These settings define how dosage and quantity behave by default:
Default Dosage Mode – Sets the initial calculation mode (Exact Quantity, Daily Dose, or Per Bottle).
Match Quantity Received with Dosage – Automatically syncs total quantity with dosage instructions.
Default “Write Your Own Dosage Instructions” – Pre-fills custom dosage text when enabled.
These defaults save time and reduce repetitive entry.
Tabbing controls how the Tab key behaves while entering ingredients:
No Tabbing – Default browser behavior.
Vertical – Moves down the ingredient list.
Horizontal – Moves across columns (ingredient → dosage → next field).
This is purely a workflow preference for faster data entry.
This section controls which columns appear in the ingredient grid and in what order, such as:
Pin Yin
Latin
Chinese
Supplier
Form
Raw Quantity
Ratio
Granules Quantity
Each column can be toggled On/Off and reordered. This lets you tailor the builder to your clinical style and training background.
This area manages:
Templates – Prewritten preparation instructions you can reuse.
Variables – Dynamic placeholders (e.g., {water}, {time}) that can be inserted into templates.
Templates allow you to standardize patient instructions while remaining flexible.
Set default refill behavior for new formulas:
Default Number of Refills
Default Frequency (Days)
Default Expiry Days
These values auto-populate when you create a new formula, reducing repetitive setup.
Formula Settings define how the builder behaves, not the content of a specific formula.
Each dispensary may enable, disable, or modify these sections.
Always follow any clinic-specific workflows or defaults set by your dispensary administrator.
These tools are designed to streamline your prescribing process while preserving flexibility.
Formula Settings allow you—and your dispensary—to shape the formula builder to match clinical style, regulatory needs, and operational workflows.
