Add an Ingredient

Navigation: Admin > Ingredients > Add Ingredient Manually

Overview

This section explains how to manually add a new ingredient to your dispensary catalog.

A help video is available and recommended before getting started.


Add Ingredient Instructions

  1. At the top of the Ingredients page, click Add Ingredient

  2. Select Add Ingredient Manually

  3. Choose the Ingredient Type

You will then be presented with the ingredient creation form.





Overview

This screen is used to create a new ingredient and define its core identifying and pricing information. All fields marked with an asterisk (*) are required before the ingredient can be created.

You can set defaults in the Ingredient Type Settings for the Ingredient Type Selected

Required Fields Explained

Select Ingredient Name Type

  • Confirms the Ingredient Type (for example: Concentrate – Single Item)

  • This determines available names, measurements, pricing behavior, and settings


SKU

  • Enter a unique SKU for the ingredient

  • SKUs must be unique within the same Ingredient Type


Category

  • Assign a default category for the ingredient

  • Categories help organize ingredients and are used for filtering and reporting

  • Click Add New to create a category if needed


Default Selling Price

  • Enter the default price per unit (for example, per milliliter)

  • This price is used unless overridden by pricing rules or tiered pricing


Herb Names (Ingredient Names)

Each ingredient must have at least one name.

  • Use Add New to add additional name types

  • Select the Name Type (e.g., Pinyin, English, Latin)

  • Enter the corresponding name value

These names are used throughout the system depending on your Ingredient Type name settings and default display preferences.


Actions

  • Use Delete to remove a name row if it is not needed

  • Additional name types can be added or removed later by editing the ingredient


Once all required fields are completed, you can continue to create the ingredient and access additional tabs to configure pricing, inventory, suppliers, images, and other settings.
